About Us |
|
Modern Chemicals and Plastics was established by
technically qualified personnel in the year 1955 initially
to anufacture metallic stearates. The company then
diversified its activities to manufacture paints additives
such as driers. As time passed, we widened our range
as PVC stabilizers by incorporating lead compounds,
Barium / Cadmium solids and liquids, Calcium / Zinc
complexes. In all our endeavors, in-house development
of technology was of paramount importance.
As the needs of industry went on Changing, more
sophisticated high performance equipments &
processes started appearing in the market place. This
opened new opportunities for us. To keep abreast with
the latest developments and to expand our activities,
the range of liquid Barium / Cadmium, Calcium / Zinc,
Barium / Zinc stabilizers for indoor and outdoor
applications of PVC were developed and
manufactured.
Modern Chemicals and Plastics is one of the leading
manufacturers of speciality chemicals that improve the
performance characteristics of a wide variety of
products.
The company's success is primarily due to its
consistent ability to provide customers with top quality
products, technical assistance and solutions for their
ever changing needs. For the paints and coating
industries we satisfy many major needs from driers,
fungicides, dispersion aids and viscosity modifiers.
Other metal soaps and viscosity modifiers. Other metal
soaps and chemicals produced by the company find
application as fungicide and preservatives for
adhesives, cordage, textiles and wood. Still others
serve as components in metal plating, as additives and
anti-corrosive compounds for lubricants, and as
combustion catalysts for fuel oil.
Our products are tested through rigorous quality control both with regard to raw materials and finished products. In
addition, we offer pre and after sales technical assistance to
our customers through our trained and experienced personnel
and undertake development of special formulations tailored to
their requirements.
Both Modstab and Stabiplast PVC stabilizers are very well
accepted by leading manufacturers of PVC industry. MCP
products are exported to Middle East, Sri Lanka and African
Countries.
TOWARDS THE FUTURE
MCP will also manufacture customised stabilizers for specific
purposes for the consumer requirements. This will benefit us to
establish better products rapport and acquire ability to meet
the international standards.
In the future, our main thrust shall be on exports of polymer
additives manufactured by us. Export of the products shall
require local agents to market and promote our products in
their region. We are open for such agencies, or distributorship.
Research and Development with present laboratory set up &
technical assistance, the company has made products of
international repute, technically sound backup to market their
products in a better way.
Our aim is to go for better liquid stabilizers systems, more
environmental friendly, to avoid using various solids, toxic
stabilizers. To expand our market on non-toxic stabilizers for
medical, toys & water bottles applications. |

Liquid Kickers for Pressure-Less
Expansion of Plasticized PVC |
|
|
|
General |
|
The Modstab types listed below are liquid kickers for the pressure-less expansion of
PVC pastes.
Modstab kickers lower the decomposition temperature of azo dicarbonamide. Their
use thus permits the pressure-less expansion of PVC to be effected at the normal
processing temperatures. These products have at the same time a stabilizing effect
on the PVC, so that it is unnecessary to add any other stabilizers.
The easy dispersibility of the liquid Modstab kickers in PVC plastisols ensures a
uniform cellular structure and foam density. The viscosity of the PVC pastes is
reduced in most cases. |
|
|
|
Metal Basis |
|
The stabilizers of this series are based on Cd/Zn, Ba/Zn, K/Zn complexes and Zn
blended with special additives for optimum performance. |

Applications |
|
Modstab kickers differ in their influence on the rate of decomposition of the blowing agent.
The Selection of the suitable kicker depends on the processing conditions and on the
PVC : plasticizer ratio. |

|
|
Dosage |
|
The amount of kicker to be used depends on the application intended.
Experience has shown that the kickers develop their best effect when applied in the
same amount as the blowing agent.
Modstab kickers function as thermostabilizers in the coating of woven fabrics, felts,
etc. with PVC pastes based on prestabilized emulsion polymers.
Recommended amount to be used: 1.5-3 phr
If exceptionally high thermal long-term stability of the PVC compound is required,
we recommend the addition of Epoxidised oils. |

Applications |
|
|
|
Stabilizers of the Modstab ''T'' and Modstab "B" ranges are liquid Ba/Cd/Zn and Ba/Zn
stabilizers. They are used mainly for stabilizing plasticized suspension PVC, mass PVC and
washed emulsion PVC. In thermoplastic processing, they impart high stability and a good
initial colour to the PVC compound. |
|
Modstab T-420 is recommended for plastisol processing. |
|
|
|
Dosage |
|
These stabilizers are applied in amounts of 1.0-3.0 phr, according to the processing conditions and the desired properties of the products. |
|
|
|
Constabilizers |
|
In cases where exceptionally high demands are made on the heat stability of the PVC
compound and on the light and weather resistance of the end products, we recommend the
addition of epoxy plasticizers. |
|

Lead stabilizers are not resistant to hydrogen sulphide. In the presence of substances that contain sulphur, discoloration of the end product may therefore occur.
For PVC products that are fast to light and weather, Pb stabilizers should not be used alone. |
