Centre for Genetic Health Care (CGHC) formally birth defect centre, a pioneer Genetic Centre in the country, was established in Mumbai in the year 1981 to offer the Genetic Laboratory and Genetic Counselling services in the country. For past three years, CGHC is a part of SRL Diagnostic Pvt. Ltd. called as SRL Diagnostic, Dr. Hema Purandarey Centre For Genetic Health Care.
Since inception, the centre has been upgrading the services keeping in pace with the rapid advancement in the field of Medical Genetics, which has occurred before and after the completion of Human Genome Project. With better understanding of disease producing genes, genetic testing has become a more common place, and diagnosis is extended from not only post natal period to prenatal period but even preconception period. Moreover the application of genetic science has also extended in various fields opening various career options (link).
Dr. Hema Purandarey, Founder-Director eminently qualified, has been trained in all aspects of medical genetics at the most advanced centres/laboratories over the world (USA, UK and Europe). Dedicated, well qualified and experienced team of physicians, well supported by skilled, trained and dedicated scientific officers and technical staff as well as the state of the art equipments adds to the credit of our centre. The centre has vast experience of more than 50,000 genetic referrals a year. Due to our quality, accuracy and patient care, many prestigious clinical reference laboratories; public, private and municipal hospitals and consultants of the country trust us for their patients genetic work. Centre for Genetic Health Care makes it more special to have all the facilities under one roof. We also have wide network for sample collection and transport in the country. |
